Femme Power Picks: June 2019!!

June is here and it brings with it an incredible amount of new comics and graphic novels!

First up for comics we have Black Cat #1 From Marvel Comics. Straight from the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man this new on-going series follows Felicia Hardy as she is on the run from the police. We can't wait to see what trouble Felicia gets into, given that she has a taste for the finer things in life but never wants to pay for them!

This month we also wrap up the two month long epic event from Marvel Comics and Jason Aaron! War of the Realms and all of the spectacular tie-in issues that we've been talking about comes to the epic conclusion, with Malekith's forces faltering, Thor must make a sacrifice that will change him forever! If you haven't already, make sure you pick up the first four issues of the Marvel event of the year, and follow along with some of our favorite Femme Power Comix Heroes!

In talking about our favorite Femme Power Comix Heroes, we do have some sad news to share. Unbeatable Squirrel Girl will be ending (unfortunately) at issue #50. The good news is with issue number 45 coming out this month we will only have 6 issues left before the conclusion of the story for our favorite heroine. Doreen has had an epic role in The War of the Realms (with her past two issues being tie-ins), and we can't wait to see how Ryan North will conclude her story (for now.)

Our graphic novel pick this month is This is Our Pact. Described as Stand By Me meets My Neighbor Totoro, this promises to be an incredible story about finding friendship where you least expect to find it. Follow Ben and a group of kids as they set off on what starts as an ordinary adventure, with a pact that no one will return home and no one will look back. When all but Ben and his friend Nathaniel break the pact, the adventure takes an unexpected yet magical turn. We were able to get our hands on an early release of this amazing graphic novel, so keep an eye out on our instagram for some sneak peeks before the release!

There are so many new comics and graphic novels that we are excited to feature this month, but rather than turn this post into a 60 minute read with our enthusiastic paragraphs on each, we thought it best to use our Instagram to share details of release dates as well as excerpts- so please make sure to keep an eye out on our social media!

And not to be overshadowed by books, June brings dozens of returning favorite comic series like Batgirl, Catwoman, Giant Days, Harley Quinn, Magnificent Ms. Marvel and so many others!

And in case you missed it: You can now purchase comics and graphic novels in our shop! We are slowly adding inventory as we get things situated, so bear with us! As we decide what we should stock in the shop, we would love your feedback, so always feel free to send us an email or leave us a message on Facebook or Instagram!
