Femme Power Picks: July 24th!!

WHAT. A. WEEK! After several weeks with few new series of note, last week finally brought us a handful of new things. This week, takes all that newness to the next level with half a dozen new series we can't wait to read!

It's not often we would pick a Batman series, but anyone who read Sean Murphy's Batman: White Knight knows that the original eight issue run featured a pretty unique Harley Quinn storyline. This week brings the first issue of the sequel series, Batman: Curse of the White Knight, which promises to bring Harley even more front and center!

Not to be overshadowed by the caped crusader, we also get THREE exciting new series from Marvel! First up from Marvel is their new mini-series, Fearless! Headlining three of the most powerful women in the Marvel Universe, Fearless features Captain Marvel, Storm, and the Invisible Woman teaming up to create an unstoppable crime-fighting trio! Next up from Marvel we have a new ongoing series titled Jane Foster: Valkyrie! We've known her in the past as Dr. Jane Foster, then as The Mighty Thor, Goddess of Thunder (this might sound familiar to folks paying attention to recent Phase 4 announcements for the Marvel Cinematic Universe!). Now, Jane must take on the role of Valkyrie, guide and ferry woman to the dead. When new foes arise, she must use skills learned in her past to save those around her. And the final new series from Marvel this week is House of X! Creating a new era for the X-Men, Jonathan Hickman takes over the reins for the X-Men Universe and sets the story after Professor Xavier reveals his plan to bring muntantkind out of the shadows once and for all!

Oh hey, AND we get two new things from IDW, including a GLOW Summer Special and the first issue of Star Pig, which follows late 21st-century teen Vess as she is saved by a gigantic water bear after a space shuttle accident! We're hoping this latter comic turns out to be just weird enough to work.

We also have some returning favorites this week such as Batgirl, Lumberjanes, Magnificent Ms. Marvel, Marvel Rising (which sadly is ending this week), Wonder Woman, and so many other Femme Power Comix favorites!

For graphic novels, we highly recommend you scroll down and check out Making Friends Vol. 02 from the amazing Kristen Gudsnuk, as well as Skip from Nobrow Press!
